Textured Dinnerware is an innovative way to change a table and liven your senses. While new florials, fruits, stripes, and novelty print continue to be released by major manufacturers, some of the most exciting dinnerware is based on texture.
A unique texture on a mug, plate, or serving bowl really can add to the experience of dinner. And when you are tired of buying plain solid color dinnerware and aren't crazy about colorful graphics these plates are a breath of fresh air.
Take this rich brown rattan dinnerware pattern from American Atlier, imagine how dramatic it would look on a porch or patio that has wicker or rattan or anywhere you can view trees, nature and the outdoors. I find the these textured patterns become more than just plates but become part of the atmosphere. This really allows the user to express themselves and really pull together a comforting theme.
While I really enjoy the rattan look, textured dinnerware also comes in refined patterns like Black pearl that uses simple beads with clean lines to create the look of a flower opening or warmth radiating from the sun. When these plates are layered toghether to really build a strong visual impression that is based on simple elegance and charm.
With more people being aware of what they eat, organic foods continue to grow in popularity well one design that appears to be borrowing from that theme is Banana Leaf. This dinnerware set conbines earthy colors and circular patterns to create a lively pattern that is full of texture, while staying true to it's focus - being dinnerware :) The pattern also shows hints of western or raw materials in it, as the brim looks like rope expanding out in circular rows. While I've never seen a banana leaf nor do I know whether the leaves are used for rope, I like the pattern and may purchase it as it matches the trim on the dining room table.
The last pattern I wanted to review is probably the most impressive one, Medallion. This pattern is strong with thick borders and reminds me of the middle ages, the Incas, Mayans and adventure. This is the perfect dinnerware to have if Indiana Jones is coming over for dinner and it comes in two colors avocado shown and brown. I expect this set will not be a best seller but will find it's way into homes with classical style and be snapped up by those who enjoy Renaissance fairs, culture and history.
Textured dinnerware is an exciting way to change your table and atmosphere. It really makes a unique statement and is one that will keep you and your guests talking.
